M&Ms were first produced in 1941, after its founder Forrest Mars, Sr. was inspired by a British chocolate brand in the 1930s. The colourful, button-shaped chocolates are instantly recognisable around the world, as they have a distinctive letter “m” printed in lower case on each candy. Another distinguishing trait of M&Ms is the presence of the “spokecandies” characters on the product’s packaging, where every character represents a different type or flavour of M&Ms.Apart from the standard milk chocolate M&Ms, other popular variations include Peanut Butter M&Ms and Crispy M&Ms. As the chocolate is covered with a candy coating, M&Ms do not melt easily and remain an addictive snack for all occasions. M&Ms are an incredibly popular mass market chocolate, with different varieties sold in more than 100 countries including Singapore, France and Estonia. M&Ms are packaged in a variety of styles, from individual snack sizes to pouch bags meant for sharing and even in an adorable fan design.
