Elderton Wines produces premium wines in the Barossa Valley, specialized in full-bodied reds. The Australian winery was planted by the Scholz family in 1894. It was later purchased in 1979 by the Ashmead family who began the vineyard restoration process. The first wine under the Elderton label was released in 1982, propelling the vineyard to national prominence after winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy. Since then, the company has enjoyed international success and celebrated for being one of the best in Barossa.
Elderton produces several collections of its wines categorized as Elite Single Vineyards, Exceptional Single Sites and Estate Family Vineyards that each delivers its unique varietal character and regional definition. The flagship wine of Elderton is the Command Shiraz, matured for 24 months in American oak puncheons and is considered to be one of the richest examples of Barossa Shiraz.
