Monkey Shoulder is a brand of blended malt Scotch whisky, a blend unique due to its combination of three different Speyside single malts. The Monkey Shoulder name was suggested by distiller workers who experienced the shoulder ailment after turning malt by hand. The blended malt whisky was created when William Grant & Sons combined the malt components from three distilleries - Balvenie, Glenfiddich and Kininvie, with the first one established in 1892. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, the malts are vatted for up to six months before being bottled.
