Strategist, model & digital creator, Ann Lopez knows what it takes to maintain commitments and fulfil passions. And for a beauty fanatic like herself, it’s not surprising to see how well she’s nailed the glam with fascinating makeup looks that always steal the show.
Mental, physical and emotional health is the answer to glowing skin, she shares, and that’s exactly what you need to make that look stand out the way you want it. Preach, sister!
And if Lopez’s recent dolled up looks on Instagram are any indication, we knew she had to spill her secrets for all the women out there looking to glam up for the next occasion.
I believe that good skin starts from within. Our skin is always influenced by our mental, physical and emotional health. So, declutter and detox when you need to, and bring in good energy to yourself.
Among my favourite makeup looks I’ve created, the Golden Glam and Colourful Chic, will totally make the cut for Diwali. I’m still deciding between the two because each is unique and you can explore different aesthetics in terms of jewellery and apparel.
I’ve always been drawn to bold colours growing up in a Gujarati home and it’s not uncommon to see Gujarati women donning loud jewellery and colourful aesthetic, with contemporary interpretations. These signify strength, energy and happiness, which I find memorable and heart-warming. And for someone who loves marrying the modern with the traditional, it’s no surprise that I grew into these.
The recent Diwali makeup looks I put together are inspired by these values but at the same time, I revel in the aura of the many Indian personalities we know, one of them being cinema actress Rekha. Someone who has a knack for beauty and fashion, and dons any look effortlessly, she’s one role model to have.
Beyond that, I also look out for attractive makeup looks on screen when watching Bollywood films. My Golden Glam is inspired by Mastani’s character played by renowned actress Deepika Padukone when she performed one of the most popular tracks in the film Bajirao Mastani. This natural makeup look is a combination of neutral shades with pops of warm pink, completed with a sleek line on the eyelids to deliver that quiet charm.
The Colourful Chic is my own rendition of Ariana Gande and Naagin Gali Gali, inspired by the beautiful Mouni Roy’s appearance in the song Gali Gali in KGF Chapter 1. The showstopper is the eye makeup – a dazzling ombre effect of peacock colours that complements a ruby lip shade for that angelic yet bold look. This look is also one of my favourites as I can go for colourful necklaces, earrings and maang tikka, which is perfect for an occasion like Diwali.
I start with a base of Vitamin Enriched Face Base by Bobbi Brown, followed by the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup SPF10/PA++ foundation to lock in my makeup. My favourite highlighting product is the Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder 4GM. For eye makeup, I never go wrong with Leopard Sun Eye Colour Quad from Tom Ford Beauty. I also love Tom Ford’s Lip Colour Rouge A Levres for their lip shades. In Golden Glow, I used Insatiable.
When it comes to my hair-do, I always trust hair care and styling products from Dyson. With the Dyson Supersonic™ HD08 Iron Fuschia Hair Dryer and Dyson Corrale™ Straightener Black Nickel/Fuchsia, I can go from dashing curls to sleek and straightened tresses.
And with a few sprays of Jo Malone London’s English Pear & Freesia Cologne, one of my best perfume brands, I’m all ready!
Whether it’s Diwali, Eid or Christmas, or your usual day out, remember that you always deserve to look good. But that always starts with healthy skin.
And when it comes to exploring new makeup looks, never feel afraid to experiment – hit up your girlfriends, aunts or whomever you know that’ll give you that perk-me-up to always look your best!
