Chateau de Camensac is a premier Bordeaux red wine from Haut-Médoc that was classified as 5éme Grand Crus Classé in the historic Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
The Château de Camensac, a Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot red wine blend, is brilliant and limpid, with a dark garnett around the rim. The nose is neat, with vibrant notes of currants and raspberries, followed by floral aromas of fresh roses, and a fine woody touch very lighted vanilla-flavoured. The attack is straightforward, showing very refined tannins in a supple envelope that perfects the middle of the mouth. The fruity and floral aromas are confirmed. The harmonious wine at this stage of evolution is a promise of delicacy. The finish is very long and evokes a sensation of tasty current jelly. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot.

Château de Camensac is located on the perimeter of the Medoc's great growths, bordering on the Saint-Julien appellation.It is a very old estate that was cited on Belleyme's falous 18th century map. Camensac means "on the water's way", and comes from the words "camens", which means path or way, and "ac", which means water in local dialect. In the 17th century, monks dug ditches along the bottom of the gravelly rises. These contributed to the quality of the terroir by draining off excess rainwater. The Merlaut family acquired Camensac in time for the 2005 vintage. Céline Villars and Jean Merlaut are now in charge of the estate.
