CHATEAU HARMONIE GRAND CRU
Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France
90 points, James Suckling
An excellent Merlot-dominate Grand Cru from Saint-Emilion in the Right Bank of Bordeaux.
Château Harmonie Grand Cru red wine has a brilliant dark red colour. Black fruit dominates on the nose. On aeration, spicy aromas mingle with notes of black cherry and blackberry. On the palate, the wine is silky, with fine, elegant tannins. The mid-palate is full and delicious, with a long, juicy finish. A wine to be enjoyed in its early years, but which will gain in finesse and elegance with ageing. 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc
Owned by the Lefévère family since 2009, Château Harmonie is crafted by the same team behind Châteaux Sansonnet, Villemaurine, and Moulin du Cadet, Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion. The 6.75-hectare vineyard, expanded in 2019 with additional plots in Saint-Christophe des Bardes, is planted on a mix of sandy green clay, clay, and clay-limestone soils. Predominantly Merlot, the blend is complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. With modern winemaking facilities, the estate produces high-quality wines that reflect the Lefévère family’s expertise and passion.
