A beautifully balanced expression of this classic Rhone grape blend from the Barossa Valley.

An abundance of ripe black and red fruit on the nose with some deeper savoury notes from the Mataro. On the palate is powerful and generous with ripe black fruit, damson and pepper. The tannins are sweet and smooth giving great length and structure.

Bin 138 draws its inspiration from wines of Southern Rhône, where shiraz, grenache and mataro (mourvèdre) are blended in varying proportions to create full-bodied wines possessing rich and heady perfume. Each year fruit for Bin 138 is sourced from Barossa Valley vines (some more than 100 years old) and then matured in seasoned oak hogsheads to allow the different varietals to shine through.

Expert review:
Wine Enthusiast
"This is a full-bodied, impressively textured example of a traditional Rhône-style blend. It's fruit-forward on the nose and palate, driven by notes of black cherries, plums and apricots, but folds in enough black olive and mocha shadings to give it a balancing savory edge. Drink 2015–2023." - 91/100, Wine Enthusiast
