Oud, often called ""musky luxury,"" is one of the most prized perfume ingredients in the world. Though popular in the Middle East, it originates from Southeast Asia, where the agarwood tree, when infected by Phialophora parasitica, produces a dark, dense, and fragrant resin as a defense mechanism—this resin is Oud. The best and most pungent oud comes from Cambodia, with just 1ml of resin requiring a full kilo of agarwood, costing $250-$300.
