Background:
The very best whisky doesn't happen by accident, or it certainly didn't with Tamdhu. In 1897, a group of like-minded entrepreneurs came together with a shared ambition to create the best whisky in the world. From the very first moment, everyone involved in Tamdhu had the same mind-set -only the best will do. And so it began. The best distillery architect and engineer of the day, Charles C Doig ESQ, was enlisted. The best location on the banks of the River Spey was acquired, just as the plans were being drawn for the Dalbeallie Station near by. In 1898, our founders secured their first precious shipment of sherry casks from the finest bodegas in Spain. Now over 100 years later, Tamdhu matures its whisky exclusively in the finest Oloroso sherry casks.
