This bundle consists of :

Penfolds BIN 128 Shiraz 750ml
Nose : Licentious and ‘loud’, and why not?! An animated uplift of so many desirable shiraz fragrances from South Australia’s Coonawarra region. Liberated Mediterranean spices – paprika, rosemary, pink peppercorn – merge into scents of earthy, gamey sautéed lentil, and then to those of steamed corned beef/silverside. In parallel, charmed by wafts of the exposed top pastry layer of freshly baked strudel – still moist and imbued with rhubarb, date and preserved fig. Cedar, cigar box French oak further confirming this marque’s style thumbprint.
Palate : Convincingly, silverside/corned beef flavours best reflect this region’s matured 2017 shiraz fruit expression … freshness insured with a cranberry and fresh date garnish. Dusty – undeniably terra rossa derived. Closer inspection reveals a brick dust textural mesh, reinforced by fine grained, chalky tannins

Bin 311 Chardonnay truly reflects the winemakers’ mantra of going where the fruit grows best and where it best suits style. From
the 2017 release of Bin 311, fruit sourcing moved to multi-regional cool-climate regions. In true Bin 311 style, not unlike Yattarna, it
exhibits lemon/lime aromas and a mineral acid backbone, complemented by barrel fermentation and maturation in mostly
seasoned oak. Minimal filtration is employed, preserving elegant fruit flavours.

Heady notes of plums, currants, baking spice, mint and licorice have an earthy, savory underbelly as well as a polish of toasty oak. Tannins are powerful but finely structured, pinning the fruit into place. A big, steak-friendly wine from a solid vintage with high gloss appeal. Drink now–2030. This one combines toast and nuttiness with that flinty aspect in interesting combination - possibly thanks to combining fruit from such different areas.
