Château Domeyne whose vineyard lies on the gravel mounds of the commune of Saint-Estèphe, adjoining the Château Calon Ségur – became the property of Claire and Gonzague Lurton in December 2006. Between them, they already own Château Ferrière, Château La Gurgue and Château Haut Bages Libéral (Claire), and Château Durfort Vivens (Gonzague), and they are now pooling their expertise to develop the superb terroir on which the Château Domeyne vines stand.
After a cold dry winter, mild temperatures in March led to slightly earlier bud-break. However, the latter half of spring was cold and wet, slowing vine growth. The weather conditions nonetheless turned very favourable from mid-July, with no rain and summer temperatures making up for the delay. Thanks to the rain in late September the harvest had good aromatic balance and consistent ripeness.
