Castiglioni Chianti, a Tuscan red wine from one of the most famous Italian wineries, reflects the characteristics of the terroir it represents and is a smooth wine, pleasantly fruity, with a strong, well defined character.
Favourable soil and climate mean that Chianti Castiglioni is a perfect reflection of the characteristics of the land - a soft and pleasantly fruity wine noted for its well-defined personality. Chianti Castiglioni 2021 is a vibrant ruby red colour. It is a pleasantly fruity wine on the nose, with notes reminiscent of redcurrant, raspberry, morello cherry and wild strawberry. A beautiful floral sensation on the finish is accompanied by spicy hints of clove. Lively and fresh on the palate with pleasant but never overwhelming tannins . The lovely finish is long, crisp and delicate. Enjoy with savoury dishes such as pappardelle with meat sauce, or alternatively roast chicken, steak with vegetables, or semi-mature cheese.
The Castiglioni estate has been a defining symbol of the Frescobaldi family’s wine-growing tradition since 1300. Production of Tuscan wines, enjoyed by both the papal court and English court of Henry VIII in the 16th century, began here. Tenuta Castiglioni is situated in the gentle hills of Val di Pesa. Here the richness of the weather and the soil is expressed in the structure of the wines, thanks to the symbiosis between fresh earth, a mild climate and the afternoon breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Expressing the contemporary nature of Tuscan wines. The estate is the oldest of the Frescobaldi family’s estates on the Florentine hills where 700 years of wine-growing history began.
For 700 years the Frescobaldi family has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. The family has always looked to develop and celebrate the diversity of Tuscany’s terroir, being proud owners of some of the greatest vineyards in this region.
