Vasse Felix
FILIUS CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Margaret River, Australia

90 points - Wine Enthusiast

Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate and a pioneer Australian winery, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon wines. "Son of" the Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Filius Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a deep perfume of blackcurrant, blueberry and coffee mocha complexities. Notes of dusty earth and woody perennial herbs mingle with hints of nori, dried forest leaves and wild mushrooms to create an inviting aroma. A light fragrant entrance with blackcurrant, raspberry and pot pourri builds to earthy complexities and fine dry dusty tannins which serve to frame the fruit. A comfortable, soft, juicy body and tannin profile finishes the wine fresh and long. Enjoy with grilled steak, red sauce pasta dishes, and hearty cheeses.
Established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr. Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate.

Pristine isolation, ancient lands and twin oceans make Margaret River a wine paradise and one of the world’s greatest environments to grow ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. These varieties, alongside Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends are the primary focus at Vasse Felix.

All wines are grown in Vasse Felix’s four Margaret River vineyards then vinified and bottled within the modern winery, situated at the Home Vineyard overlooking the Wilyabrup Brook.

The Vasse Felix family of wines reflect their commitment to expressing and exploring the very best of Margaret River, and continuing Tom Cullity's original aim to "make the best possible wine".
