Vasse Felix
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Margaret River, Australia
95 points, Wine Enthusiast
94 points, James Suckling
Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate and a pioneer Australian winery, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon wines. The Premier Cabernet Sauvignon of Vasse Felix offers a distinctive style that possesses all the hallmarks of the finest Margaret River Cabernet: elegance, generosity and ageability. Made every year since 1972, it is Margaret River’s archetypal Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Vasse Felix Premier Cabernet Sauvignon is a bright and deep ruby with a purple tinge in the glass. Super fragrant “Old Spice” perfume with nutmeg, star anise, orange, pimento, jasmine, vanilla, musk and cedar. With old cellar charm this vintage is more woodsy, wild mushroom and dark berry fruit than ocean scents. The palate is powerful and fluid, riding into buoyant fruit sweetness with a savoury overtone. Flowing into a very fine tight tannin profile which is powdery and dry but not intense. Rich fruit power, but not heavy. Enjoy with grilled steak, red sauce pasta dishes, and hearty cheeses.
Established in 1967 by regional pioneer Dr. Tom Cullity, Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding wine estate.
Pristine isolation, ancient lands and twin oceans make Margaret River a wine paradise and one of the world’s greatest environments to grow ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. These varieties, alongside Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc blends are the primary focus at Vasse Felix.
All wines are grown in Vasse Felix’s four Margaret River vineyards then vinified and bottled within the modern winery, situated at the Home Vineyard overlooking the Wilyabrup Brook.
The Vasse Felix family of wines reflect their commitment to expressing and exploring the very best of Margaret River, and continuing Tom Cullity's original aim to "make the best possible wine".
